Past Projects

Some of our client interactions and major projects we have worked on over the past years.

Harper Trail

Harper Park is a natural forested park in the northeast corner of Coquitlam.

GLE was tasked with installing an accessible walking trail connecting various corners of the park and the community, which also required design/supply/install of three bridge spans and two culvert crossings to traverse over multiple year-round creeks.

Weather, materials delivery into the park, root protection zones and wildlife were all overcome with cost effective planning and utilizing the right equipment to bring the project to completion.

New Brighton Park

New Brighton Park, at the foot of the Second Narrows Bridge, was a collaborative effort by Port Metro Vancouver and the City of Vancouver to restore coastal shoreline habitat which promotes productive habitat for juvenile fish, wildlife and birds.

GLE provided expertise and in the form of skilled labour and site management to Inlailawatash Limited Partnership, installing 45,000 native plants and salt marsh species in designated areas of the 1.5 hectare site.

A shortened planting timeline and hot summer establishment period was overcome utilizing a temporary irrigation system to maximize plant survival. GLE continues to provide ongoing maintenance and monitoring for long term site health.

Credo Christian Elementary School

GLE Green Landscape Experts completed a complete design/build of a sand based sports field renovation, all-weather playfield improvements, and upgrade of hard play surfaces within the school grounds.

Project challenges included completing the project within twelve weeks over the summer holidays from survey to grass establishment.

Features include a drainage system, timber and lock-block walls, concrete sidewalks, asphalt play surfaces, line painting, basketball hoops, irrigation system and chain-link fences.

New Westminster Pier Park

Pier Park is a linear riverfront park in New Westminster connecting what was once industrial lands to the downtown core.

GLE worked as a subcontractor at this park, installing several key components within the site: 270 lineal metres deltalok wall along the railroad ROW and 195 lineal metres MSE wall along the Fraser River, both at an average high over 2.5 meters tall; installation of three 450mm casings to bring services into the park under three sets of railroad track; sourcing and supplying over 190 boulders up to 3.0m in size; installation of unique site furniture from poles to benches; a two wire decoder irrigation system for 50+ zones; and planting and subsequent maintenance throughout the park.

Surrey Memorial Hospital - McElhanney Children’s Playground

To celebrate 50 years of doing business in Surrey, McElhanney brought together a team of individuals, companies and suppliers to install an interactive space on an outside deck for therapy, healing and relaxation.

GLE was a key contributor, providing skills and knowledge for the installation of the seat walls and two decks at SMH in the Pediatrics Unit. The project had some unique challenges, from short notification, to materials co-ordination, to the completion of unique spaces like a reading and relaxation seating area inside a concrete cylinder, hidden drawers, and various interactive materials useful in physical therapy treatment.

GLE was able to complete the work within the allotted time to ensure timely completion by subsequent trades and grand opening.

Surrey Bend

GLE Green Landscape Experts, working collaboratively with Inlailawatash Limited Partnership, installed approximately 38,000 trees and shrubs and was involved in the two year monitoring and maintenance of the park for the First Nations Fishery Legacy Fund in what today is a Metro Vancouver Regional Park.

The site presented many challenges; the newly formed berms comprised of peat did not firm-up during the planting period, making accessibility of manpower, equipment and materials into the site difficult, but the project was completed on-time and on-budget.

The park has since won awards and is a great example of diverse groups working together to achieve something great for others to enjoy.

Athletes Village Vancouver

Athletes Village Vancouver was built to house the athletes during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

GLE worked as a subcontractor to install trails, trees and shrubs, site furniture and various other components at the Habitat Island, Southeast False Creek Waterfront, and Athletes Village Streetscapes prior to the start of the Games and subsequent maintenance resulting from these installations.
